In Washington state, it is common to be offered a 1-year warranty on a new home, sometimes with an extended warranty on certain systems for longer times. These warranties are usually pretty broad and cover construction defects during the initial period of your ownership. Make sure you get defects and issues fixed before your warranty expires.
